Afterschool Programs
IEA partners with trusted community organizations to offer fun, enriching afterschool programs your child will love — from karate and dance to science experiments and chess. It's a safe, structured way for kids to keep learning, moving, and making friends after the school day ends. Browse this year's programs below and encourage your child to start a new adventure!
2026–2027 School Year · Winter Session
Our afterschool programs give students a fun way to build skills, try something new, and spend time with friends after the school day ends. Winter session programs begin the week of January 11 and run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Registration is now open – Jan. 6 | Space in each program is limited, so sign up early. There are no club sessions on January 18 (MLK Day), February 11 (Parent-Teacher Conferences), or February 15 (Presidents’ Day). Missed sessions are made up at the end of each program.

Winter Programs at a Glance
All programs start right after school at 2:45 PM. Woodworking runs two hours; all other programs run one hour.

About Each Program
Woodworking
Taught by Stanson Trade Academy, LLC. Small classes led by skilled instructors give students a safe introduction to real shop tools and techniques.
Mondays · Grades 3-8 · $200
3-D Print Club
Students learn to find, download, and transfer 3D print files, and use Tinkercad to design their own creations for a personal collection or a new entrepreneurial venture.

Power Chess
Chess instruction that covers the fundamentals through engaging lessons, puzzles, and games that build strategic thinking toward confident checkmates.
Tuesdays · Grades K–4 · $129
Scales & Tails
Live-animal encounters with reptiles, amphibians, and bugs, plus a hands-on activity or craft each week to spark curiosity about wildlife.

Snapology
A LEGO STEAM club where students build inventions, learn coding, make robots, and create their own LEGO masterpieces.
Thursdays · Grades 1–6 · $110
Kyu Shin Ryu Karate
Open to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced. Students build discipline, focus, and growth inside and outside the dojo.
Thursdays · Grades K–6 · $120/6 weeks
Enjoy the opportunity to participate in Kyu Shin Ryu throughout the year at $85/month

Your student will not miss any sessions. Each program adds the missed weeks to the end, on the same day and at the same time. The end dates listed above already include these makeup sessions.
Registration and Fees
Registration for the winter session is open Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 18. Register and pay online using the Winter Afterschool Programs registration form. Payment is collected on the form when you register. The form is only available during the registration window.

Karate families: Karate registration and monthly payment go directly to Kyu Shin Ryu Karate, not through the IEA form.
