The School Board of Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy takes seriously its obligations to ensure that no student or employee suffers discrimination. We are committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and equitable environment for all members of our school community.
IEA is committed to nondiscrimination in all aspects of our educational programs, employment practices, and community partnerships.
The Board is committed to nondiscrimination with regard to sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, national origin, disability, religion, ancestry, age, marital status, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, or status as a veteran, in employment or in its programs and activities.
This commitment will prevail in all of our policies and practices concerning:
Understanding federal protections against sex-based discrimination in education.
"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
Title IX protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in educational programs or activities that receive financial assistance. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment, which is defined as conduct on the basis of sex that satisfies one or more of the following:
An employee of IEA who places conditions on the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of IEA based upon participation in unwelcome conduct.
Unwelcome conduct that a reasonable person would determine to be so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the IEA's education program or activity.
Sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking, as defined by applicable law.
A report should be submitted by any student or employee who believes he or she has been the victim of discrimination or harassment prohibited by law.
The allegation should be reported as soon as possible of the occurrence. Further, an employee or student who has knowledge of conduct which may constitute discrimination or harassment should report such conduct to IEA's Executive Director or to any school personnel.
All reports will be addressed promptly, with further investigation conducted where needed to confirm facts or resolve disputed facts.
Reports should be filed with: IEA's Executive Director or any school personnel

After a report of sexual harassment has been made, the school and/or Title IX Coordinator will reach out to the individual affected by the alleged misconduct, provide supportive measures, discuss the grievance policy, and offer the opportunity for the complainant to file a formal complaint if the behavior meets the Title IX definition of sexual harassment.
If a formal complaint is filed, appropriate steps will be taken to investigate. Upon completing the investigation, the outcome will be shared with all stakeholders.
If a party does not agree with the final determination made by the school or has concerns of noncompliance with Title IX or actions that would be prohibited by Title IX, he/she may appeal the determination.
Appeals must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed according to established procedures.
